7 Signs Your Life is on The Right Track
People always wonder how they're doing in life. For some people it's an accumulation of material things that signals success in life. For some it’s about a general sense of satisfaction or the balance between different areas of life. For others just holding down a job is enough to keep them content. Maybe you're wondering what else you could be doing to make sure you're on the right path as you navigate life. Here are seven signs that your life is on the right track.
1. You Take Care of Yourself
Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do in your life. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said “The first wealth is Health”. The quality of your life can be greatly determined by how well you take care of yourself and how well you feel. Sleeping well, Eating healthy and living an active lifestyle will give you the energy and stamina you need to lead a full life. Part of taking care of yourself also involves taking time for yourself. If you have a job, spouse, and family, it can be difficult to find time to spend alone, but it's important for your mental and emotional health to get some solitary time. Time alone allows you to relax, de-stress, and do something that's just for you. It's the perfect opportunity to read a book, meditate, go for a run, or just sit quietly and do absolutely nothing. If you are taking good care of yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally then you are on the right track.
2. You Have Clear Life Goals.
You know what you want in life, why you want it and are taking steps toward it. To be on the right track in life means that you are very clear on the direction and objectives for each area of your life. This makes you feel deeply satisfied and fulfilled because you can clearly see that your tasks, activities and effort are fully aligned with your life goals and are leading you closer and closer to them. Of course, this does not mean that you will not have difficult and challenging days. But you are at peace since deep inside you know that these difficulties are expected and predictable. In fact, you clearly see them as a natural part of your journey and are ready for them when they arrive. When you are on the right track in your life, the results of your efforts are continuously proving that you are moving in the right direction.
3. You Have Abandoned Toxic Relationships
Who you surround yourself and spent time with can dramatically impact the quality of your life. If you've decided it's time to get rid of gossips, complainers, and negative personalities in your life, you are on the right track. Surrounding yourself with positive people, who love and care about you, will uplift you. These are the people who will make you smile and make you feel better when things aren't going quite right. During the challenging times, they will help you find solutions to problems instead of helping you to wallow in self-pity. If you are continuously working on creating great relationships and seek to surround yourself with kind, wise and supportive people, then you are on the right track.
4. You're Doing What You Love
It takes time to find the job or career that you enjoy. Sometimes you have to work a job you don't necessary want or enjoy until you can find something better suited to you. But, as long as you don’t feel forever stuck and are continuously improving up on and getting closer and closer to your ideal work, you are on the right track. Aside from your job, it's also important that you partake in activities that you truly enjoy. Don't resign yourself to sitting in front of the television every evening. If you're a painter, make time to paint. If you've wanted to take up writing, spend time focused on improving your skill. If you have a hobby, make sure to dedicate enough time to it. The best way to enjoy your life is to do things that make you happy and fulfilled. If you have stopped settling for things that don't make you happy, you're on the right track.
5. You're Saving Money
If you are saving & investing money, you are protecting yourself, your future and the future of your loved ones. And of course, you are also creating peace of mind. Life is unpredictable and you never know when you might have a medical emergency or lose a job. Don't wait to begin saving until you're older because you think you can wait. Be disciplined about this. The sooner you begin, the better. It's important to be responsible and think ahead instead of thinking only about what you want now. When you are regularly saving and investing a portion of your earnings for short and long term needs, you know you're on the right track in life.
6. You Don't Compare Yourself to Others
If you've stopped obsessing over what other people do or have and have stopped comparing yourself to them, you're on the right track in life. You've probably realized that most people only post on social media to brag about the good part of their life and leave the bad out. No one has a perfect life, so you know not to focus only on that small portion of their lives. You have also grown and realize that material items alone don't make a person happy and successful. If you’re focusing on doing and being your best every day and have started striving for happiness and a deep sense of fulfillment based on your own authentic needs, you're on the right path.
7. You Trust Yourself
When you start trusting your gut, you can consider yourself on the right track. Self-trust shows confidence, maturity, strength and wisdom. It might seem like a small thing, but when you built trust in yourself over time, you save yourself a lot of pain and frustration. You may have been taught that you should trust people's word or opinions more that yourself but as you grow older, you are obligated to do none of those things. If you feel someone is lying to you, trust yourself. If you feel that a situation is not to your benefit, trust yourself. If you feel that an offer is too good to be true, trust yourself. If you continue to listen to people’s excuses and manipulations, you might start to believe what you're being told and second guess yourself only to find out later you were correct. By trusting your intuition and wisdom, you avoid drama and wasted time. If you are continuing to increase your trust, confidence and inner strength, then you are on the right track.
If you are doing even a few things on the above list, that's a good start. If you aren't doing any of them, don't worry. It's never too late to get your life on the right track. Pick one of these and Start getting on the right track today.
